The Kangaroo Foundation is a non-profit organization, created by a group of health professionals, with the aim of humanizing the care of newborn infants, particularly those more fragile, such as premies and low birth weight infants. The Foundation promotes the use, enhancement and diffusion of the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). We have been successful in spreading the world with KMC. Multiple health programs in the world are now providing Kangaroo Mother Care and the World Health Organization WHO produced in 2003 guidelines to generalize the use of the method. What is Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)? The KMC is a Colombian pioneering method, which includes a follow-up ambulatory care, focused on premature babies and low birth weight infants. It was created in 1978 in the Infant Maternal Institute of Bogotá, and it has been recognized and diffused to a national and international level with very good results.
